Sectors

Our sectors
The Company seeks to build a diversified portfolio of investments with low exposure to market demand risks.
It seeks to diversify its investments across a number of sectors, developing the infrastructure that underpins communities across the UK, Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
Energy Transmission
We are a leading investor in the UK offshore transmission sector, investing in systems that transmit over 3GW of renewable energy.
Barrow OFTO, United Kingdom
Ensuring a seamless flow of renewable energy
Paving the way for a greener future involves investing in energy transmission infrastructure. This sector focuses on connecting offshore wind farms to the national energy grid, ensuring a seamless flow of renewable energy.
INPP plays a pivotal role as a leading investor in the link between UK offshore wind farms and the national grid. Our investments focus on the cable connections that channel energy from these wind farms to the wider energy grid. This infrastructure not only offers an inflation-linked income based on the availability of the asset, but also plays a role in achieving the UK Government's goal of reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Transport
Our global transportation portfolio invests in healthier, cleaner transport systems in the UK, Europe and Australia.

Moving towards a sustainable future
Transport infrastructure facilitates the economic and social wellbeing of a community. It is a key element in combating climate change, with the decarbonisation of transport recognised as an important component of global net zero carbon strategies. To move towards a sustainable future, it is necessary to make strategic investments in transport infrastructure.
INPP's portfolio includes a diverse range of transportation assets and businesses including rail networks and light rail systems, aimed at providing efficient, eco-friendly, and accessible means of movement.
Education
INPP is a long-term investor in over 260 schools in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The Company is one of the UK’s leading educational investors, with a portfolio that includes ‘Building Schools for the Future (‘BSF’) and the UK’s Priority Schools Building Programme.

Improving the wellbeing of communities
As dedicated investors in infrastructure, we recognise the role that education facilities play in improving the wellbeing of communities.
Our aim is to enhance education by creating modern, well-equipped spaces that encourage learning, growth, and equal opportunities. We work collaboratively with local authorities and commissioning Government agencies, head teachers and facilities providers that manage day-to-day running of our facilities, to ensure they conform to agreed standards.
Gas Distribution
INPP invests in the UK’s largest gas distribution network (‘GDN’) and in aggregate, supplies gas to approximately 11 million homes and businesses, through more than 82,000 miles of pipeline.

Supporting the country to meet its energy needs
Gas distribution infrastructure links natural gas from its production sources to households and industries, supporting the country to meet its energy needs. These networks consist of an extensive web of pipes and associated infrastructure, facilitating the safe and efficient transportation of natural gas.
GDNs are supporting the transition to net zero by exploring new ideas and technologies that can help decarbonise gas supply and demand.
The GDNs are well-established, strong cash-yielding businesses, similar to other regulated and non-regulated assets in INPP’s portfolio. They operate under a stable regulatory framework and allow a permitted return by investors.
Waste Water
Our investment into the 25km Tideway Tunnel under the River Thames will help future-proof London’s sewerage system and clean up the River Thames, creating a healthier environment for Londoners and the natural ecosystem.

A cleaner and more sustainable water ecosystem
Waste water infrastructure is responsible for providing essential services like waste disposal and pollution control to cities and towns. These municipal services serve two purposes - they protect human health and ensure environmental quality. Our waste water investment can safely transport excess rainwater and polluting discharges, thus mitigating environmental impacts and safeguarding wildlife and public health. By doing so, we ensure a cleaner and more sustainable water ecosystem.
Health
Health facilities are a key part of our portfolio - ranging from the Royal Children’s Hospital in Australia to GP surgeries across the UK. INPP has healthcare sector investments in Australia, Canada, Europe and the UK.
Beckenham Hospital, United Kingdom
Modern healthcare facilities
Health infrastructure investments encompass a diverse range of facilities, from hospitals to local clinics, that play an essential role in providing medical care and promoting public health. Through our health infrastructure investments, we facilitate the accessibility and availability of modern healthcare facilities.
INPP has invested in over 35 health sector assets. The majority of these are National Health Service Local Improvement Finance Trust ('LIFT') investments providing frontline primary and community care facilities in the UK.
Digital Infrastructure
INPP invest in a variety of digital infrastructure and associated businesses, helping to accelerate digital transformation across society.
Driving economic growth
Digital Infrastructure underpins our need to manage, store and process data between our homes, offices and the cloud, driven by a dramatically increasing number of users and devices.
INPP’s investments in fibre networks continue to enable this capability, as economic activity continues to be digitised and migrated on to the Internet.
INPP makes investments through The National Digital Infrastructure Fund (NDIF), in optical fibre-based networks and related enabling infrastructure to boost connectivity across the UK.
Judicial
Our courts and custodial facilities provide services to the judicial sector including courts, custodial buildings and police facilities. INPP has judicial sector investments in Canada, New Zealand, Europe and the UK.
Durham Regional Courthouse, Canada
Creating safe, efficient, and technologically advanced spaces
Judicial infrastructure investments focus on creating safe, efficient, and technologically advanced spaces that facilitate legal proceedings and support public security. In doing so, judicial social infrastructure supports the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development together with the provision of access to justice.
Other
INPP strives to work with public sector partners to develop and finance infrastructure to support the communities that they serve.
